SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Heavy rains overnight have caused localized flooding throughout Central New Jersey and South Plainfield. South Plainfield issued a Nixle Alert at 7:00am this morning warning commuters the overnight has closed New Market Avenue and St. Nicholas Avenue.

A number of residents have taken to social media to report both a loss of power and flooded basements. The rain is Not part of Hurricane Florence which is forecast to batter the North Carolina and South Carolina Coasts later today.
