The Golden Nugget Atlantic City will host grand opening festivities in the beautiful new 20-table Poker Room beginning Friday, February 17 - Sunday, February 19.

The luxury Poker Room officially opened in December, however, this special Grand Opening celebration weekend will give guests an opportunity to get in on the action with several featured events including guaranteed No Limit Hold ’Em Tournaments, prizes and hot seat giveaways.

On Saturday, February 18 beginning at Noon the Poker Room will host a $10,000 Guaranteed No Limit Hold ‘Em Tournament. The event will be a $100 + $20 buy-in with a 15,000 starting chip stack and optional $40 add-on for an additional 10,000 in chips. There will be 30 minute levels, and if players miss out on the opportunity to cash in on this event it will be repeating again on Saturdays, February 25, March 3 and 10.

On Sunday, February 19 at Noon a $2,012 Guaranteed No Limit Hold ‘Em Tournament will be played with a $40 + $10 buy-in with a 10,000 starting chip stack and optional $20 Add-On for an additional 5,000 in chips. This tournament play will feature 20 minute levels and the event will repeat on Sundays, February 26, March 4 and 11.

Throughout the entire weekend guests will also be offered the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a trip to the Golden Nugget Las Vegas.  This presentation highlights empirically-based principles for culturally competent practice with Latinos.  After attending this seminar, participants will be able to verbalize and apply empirically-based principles for culturally competent practice with Latinos, using a strengths perspective approach and tools such as the culturagram to assess Latino families in terms of acculturation and family functioning (i.e. family stress and conflict areas). Also, participants will be able to use solution-focused questions in their assessment with Latino consumers.

The Wine Tasting Art Show held last week to benefit the scholarship fund of the Greater Atlantic City Concierge Association (GACCA) and the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority Foundation (ACCVAF) raised enough money to provide up to six scholarships for hospitality education.

“Aside from ticket sales, it was a great evening of art and wine tastings,” said Larry Sieg, vice president of marketing for the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority.  “Our guests enjoyed viewing and buying works from nine local artists, and the wines from Gallo Wines were a big hit.  The Atlantic City Country Club atmosphere and music by the Eddie Morgan Trio made it all the more enjoyable.  We’re already looking forward to and planning next year’s event.”

Scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in hospitality management at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Atlantic Cape Community College and Fairleigh Dickinson University.  They will be presented during the ACCVAF’s annual Host Awards on May 12, 2012 at Boardwalk Hall
