By THE MORRIS COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

July 2, 2014 at 3:15 PM

The Morris County Office of Emergency Management has been monitoring weather data concerning Tropical Storm Arthur. The track of Arthur is expected to remain 200-225 miles off the coast of New Jersey. Direct impacts from the storm are highly unlikely at this time.

A few strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday afternoon/evening with wind gusts up to 50-55 mph and locally heavy rain. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Morris County until 9pm Wednesday evening.

Thursday afternoon/evening will also see a chance for strong to severe storms. Heavy rain will be possible Friday as Arthur moves parallel to the New Jersey coast. Winds Friday will be from the N-NW at 10-20 mph with gusts to 20-30 mph. Dry conditions will return late Friday and continue through Saturday. Total rainfall through Friday will be in the 1.50" to 3.00" range. We wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July weekend.
