DENVILLE, NJ - Sophomore Elysa Jordan scored a double-touch to win her bout and secure a 14-13 women's fencing triumph for Chatham over Morris Knolls on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

The win put Chatham at 5-0, making it the only undefeated women's team in the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference.

Round one score: Chatham 5, MK 4 (Sabres 1-2, Foils 3-0, Epees 1-2)
Sabre Nylah Haq opened with a 5-1 win. Morris Knolls tipped the following tied bout in their favor and the third sabre bout. The foil squad, Samantha Serban, Amy Zheng, and Sonia Julius added three wins only receiving a single touch against the squad. The Morris Knolls epees took the first two bouts. Elysa Jordan nudged the third into a win for Chatham.

Round two score: Chatham 4, MK 5 (Sabres 1-2, Foils 3-0, Epees 0-3)
The sabres repeated the results from round one. Foils Serban, Zheng, and Julius added a second 3-0 round sweep. Morris Knolls took the three epee bouts.
Running Score: Chatham 9, Morris Knolls 9

Round three score: Chatham 5, Morris Knolls 4 (Sabres 1-2, Foils 2-1, Epees 2-1)
Morris Knolls pulled in tied sabre bout. Xikes won one for Chatham and Morris Knolls took the third. Serban and Zheng went 5-0 each for their third round bouts, going undefeated for the night. The Morris Knolls foil won the final foil bout handing the epees a tied stage of 12-12. The best two out of three bouts would win the meet. Freshman Amudha Krishnan took a slow and steady approach pushing her bout into overtime at 2-2. In the final minute she landed a single touch, putting Chatham back in the lead. The second Morris Knolls epee reeled in a 5-2 win, again tying the score at 13-13. Sophomore Elysa Jordan and her opponent went back and forth to 4-3. With a minute to spare, Jordan hit on a double touch winning her bout and securing the meet for Chatham.

Chatham will face Morris Catholic away on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 4:30 p.m.
