HASBROUCK HEIGHTS,  NJ -  Julia Campen doubled in two runs and Olivia Marinelli threw a one-hitter as Hasbrouck Heights defeated Paterson Charter, 4-0, Monday afternoon in a preview of their state playoff game that will take place on Wednesday.

The Lady Aviators jumped out in the first as Alexa Marinelli singled in Autumn Thorpe to give the Aviators an early 1-0 lead.  It looked like Heights was going to have a big inning, as three of the first four hitters reached base. But Paterson Charter’s Maxibel Garcia bounced back, striking out the final two hitters of the inning to get out of trouble.

The Lady Aviators added their insurance runs in the third with a two out rally. Olivia Marinelli walked, Alexa Marinelli singled and Campen doubled, making the score 3-0.  Erin Owens then knocked in Campen, for a 4-0 lead.

Olivia Marinelli struck out 12 in her shutout win.  Maxibel Garcia struck out 12 for Paterson Charter in absorbing the loss.
