NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The freshman duo of Caity Hughes and Claire Nagel combined for three goals and three assist to lead South Plainfield to a 4-3 victory over North Brunswick in North Brunswick.
Brianna Boyce had the winning goal at the seven minute mark in the second overtime session for South Plainfield.
South Plainfield jumped out to a 3-0 first half lead on two goals by Nagel and one by Hughes. North Brunswick stormed back in the second half with Lindsey Hoagland scoring twice and assisting on a goal by Tatum Altman. South Plainfield had 13 shots on goal in the game versus North Brunswick’s nine. South Plainfield goalie Sydni Suroweic had six saves in a winning effort, and Danielle Segerholm had nine saves for North Brunswick.
The victory brings South Plainfield’s record to 2-4-1. The South Plainfield Girls Soccer Team travels to Jones Beach tomorrow for a Brain Aneurysm Awareness Fundraiser.
