Hundreds of East Orange Volunteers Join Comcast, NBCU Employees, Families and Friends to Beautify Parks at Comcast Cares Day

EAST ORANGE, NJ - Mayor Lester. E. Taylor, III, the East Orange City Council, City of East Orange employees and volunteers from local groups joined Comcast and NBCUniversal employees, their families and friends to help beautify Elmwood and Soverel Parks in East Orange on Saturday, April 26th.

“Thank you to Comcast and NBCUniversal employees and all our wonderful volunteers for taking the time out of your day to lend a hand in making our parks cleaner, more attractive and more enjoyable for our families,” said Mayor Taylor. “Your efforts are truly symbolic of your commitment to our community.”

Projects included painting and replacing sitting and playing areas, planting flowers, gardening and lending a hand wherever it was needed.

Local groups taking part in the volunteer efforts include members from New Hope Baptist Church, Elmwood Presbyterian Church, East Orange Jr. Jaguars Pop Warner Football & Cheer Programs, Promoting Progress for Youth, local store owners and many more.

Comcast Cares Day, which takes place each April during National Volunteer Month, is Comcast and NBCUniversal’s signature day of service and the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort. Dozens of community projects took place across the region on Saturday.
