DENVILLE, NJ – Morris Knolls ice hockey defeated Summit, 4-2, in Knolls's season opener on Mon Jan 18 at Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown.

Gehrig Eckoff scored two of four goals for the Golden Eagles, earning the game's first goal in the second period, assisted by Kyle Thornton and Jason Kwestel, and the game's final goal in the third period, assisted by Kwestel.

Andrew Ryan netted one in the second period, assisted by Kwestel. Kwestel also scored in the second period, assisted by Ryan.

Daniel Flaim scored both goals for Summit. Dylan Goldfarb and Pat Lumelleau assisted the first one.

Marvin had 32 saves for the Golden Eagles. Grant McCormack stopped 32 for Summit.

The 1-0 Golden Eagles will face Chatham (1-0) on Fri Jan 22 at 3:45 p.m. at Mennen.
