DENVILLE, NJ – Morris Knolls ice hockey fell to Chatham, 2-1, on Fri Jan 22 at Mennen Arena in Morristown.
Morris Knolls exerted control of the puck in the first period with nine shots on goal to Chatham’s five. Both teams ended the period scoreless.
The Golden Eagles maintained their dominance in the second period, ultimately scoring the first goal of the game. With 3:03 minutes remaining in the period, Dylan Idland nailed a power-play goal, assisted by Luke Dickerson and Andrew Ryan.
Appearing to be skating toward a back-to-back victory, it all unraveled for Morris Knolls in the waning minutes of the third period.
Chatham’s Declan Curry scored the team’s first goal, assisted by Korey Kleinle, with 1:48 minutes left in the final period. As the clock ticked down to its remaining seconds, Will White's power-play goal, assisted by Doyle Curry, beat the buzzer in the nick of time to seal the surprise win for Chatham.
Aidan Marvin had 10 saves for Morris Knolls. Michael Park stopped 26 for Chatham.
The 1-1 Golden Eagles will face Madison (1-1) on Sun Jan 24 at 6:15 p.m. at Mennen.
