CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Coral Springs police closed the city’s iconic “covered bridge” on Thursday after a vehicle hit the top of the bridge and drove off.

The bridge on NW 95 Avenue will need to be inspected to make sure it’s safe for cars and trucks to drive over it, police spokesman Chris Swinson said.

It’s not known how long the bridge will be closed.

According to Wikipedia, the 40-foot bridge was the first permanent structure built in Coral Springs.

It was designed and built in 1964 by Lewie Mullins and George Porter.
