I am very fidgety. I could NEVER imagine that I would be able to do, let alone like, meditation. But I do! And you can too – it all starts with the right setting, a fabulous teacher and the desire to try!

First, find a studio that offers meditation at a time that is good for you. I took my first class at CardioYoga in Livingston. They offer a meditation class once a month on Sunday evenings from  7 to 8 p.m. This is a great time for me as it is after all my weekend activities and is a perfect way to set an intention for the upcoming week.

The instructor, Wendy Kaplan, who leads the Yoga Nidra meditation practice is outstanding. First she creates the perfect ambiance with a candle-lit room, then she leads you through some gentle yoga moves to get out any last bits of energy. Then in the most calming voice, she guides you through your meditation. No worries if you begin to fall asleep – she has a soothing bell that she plays to bring you back to consciousness.
