Income-Eligible Montclair Seniors to Receive Farmer's Market Vouchers Tuesday

August 13, 2014 at 7:50 AM

MONTCLAIR, NJ -The Essex County Division of Senior Services is offering all income eligible Montclair residents, 60 years and older, farmers' market vouchers for the 2014 season.  Vouchers will be distributed on Tuesday, August 19, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Montclair Health Department, located at 205 Claremont Avenue, Montclair.

The vouchers were made available by the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) which awarded the grants to the State of New Jersey.   The goal of the grant is to assist governments in providing low-income seniors with coupons that can be exchanged for eligible foods (fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh-cut herbs) at farmers' markets, roadside stands, and community-supported agriculture programs.

Applicants should be prepared to produce valid identification, as well as proof of income, (Income Eligibility: Annual Income of $21,590 or less, OR $1,800.00 monthly or less, for a single applicant).
