SUMMIT, NJ - Multiple openings exist for school crossing guard positions near the Summit Public Schools. The City of Summit Police Department is seeking applicants for the positions, which are paid $34 per day with a three full-day incentive bonus paid to those with perfect attendance records for the school year.
Crossing guards will work two shifts per day from 7:45 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., and 12:15 to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday when school is in session during the COVID-19 pandemic. When the District returns to a normal schedule, the afternoon shift will be from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Uniforms and training will be provided by the Summit Police Department.
Crossing guards must wear a face covering at all times while in close proximity to others. In the event of a snow day for Summit Public Schools, crossing guards will be paid provided they work the day before and after the snow day.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and provide their own transportation to crossing posts. Applications -- which may be submitted in person or online -- are available on the City website and at the Summit Police Department, which is located within City Hall at 512 Springfield Avenue.
