It's Here: Alert Chatham Township (Act Now)

CHATHAM, NJ – The Chatham Township Committee has launched Alert Chatham Township Now! (ACT Now!) a new campaign designed to increase the number of individuals and local businesses registered for the township’s Emergency & Community Alert System.

The alert system, administered by Everbridge, a provider of critical communication solutions, currently has 1,360 individuals registered. Residents can register, or manage their existing profile, on the Township website (chathamtownship-nj.gov/resident-communications.html).

“I want to thank those residents and local businesses who have already registered for our Emergency Community Alert System and would encourage those who have not done so to ACT Now!,” said Mayor Kevin Sullivan. “Alert Chatham Township is a service that provides registrants with important updates on emergency- and community-related events. Whether it’s a major snow storm, road closure or a community alert, this system allows us to keep residents abreast of important events in the Township in a timely manner.” Residents can choose the types of alerts they wish to receive from among:

Emergency Alerts, General Alerts, Traffic Accidents or Detours, Road Closures, Severe Weather Alerts, Power/Water Outages, Crime Alerts/Police Activity, Missing Persons or Miscellaneous Community Alerts. They can also determine how they want these alerts delivered to them either by phone, e-mail or text message.

HOW IT WORKS

Messages will be sent to all standard voice and text communication devices that an individual has registered, including landline phones, cell phones, e-mail. Individuals should confirm receipt of the alert by replying with 'Yes' and hitting send. If they do not confirm receipt of the message, the system will try to reach their second contact number or e-mail. The system will continue to try to contact the individual until it receives a confirmation of receipt. Individuals can view Frequently Asked Questions regarding the alert system here.

The Chatham Township Committee consists of Mayor Kevin Sullivan, Deputy Mayor Curt Ritter, Kathy Abbott, Bailey Brower, Jr. and Robert Gallop.

Closed Fund Open Mind

Closed-end funds (CEFs) can play an important role in a diversified investment portfolio. They offer benefits similar to those of an open-end mutual fund, but also sport unique advantages.

Unlike a traditional open-end mutual fund, CEFs have a fixed number of shares available to trade. Their price is not tied to the value of the underlying portfolio. The only way the number of shares ...

“My mom works here at the Y,” says 9-year-old Leah Rajnarain, looking out from under her cat face-shaped sleeping mask that’s pushed up above her big brown eyes.
