WEST CALDWELL, NJ — James Caldwell High School invites the public to “take a trip to the Greek islands for a romantic wedding” and sing along to some of Abba’s greatest hits when the curtain opens on the spring musical theatre production of “Mamma Mia!” from March 21 to March 24.
Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on March 21, 22 and 23 with a 2 p.m. matinee being held on March 24 at James Caldwell High School’s Center for the Performing Arts, located at 265 Westville Avenue.
Admission is $10, and tickets can be purchased at the door or online by clicking HERE or at the door. For Thursday’s performance only, senior citizens can attend for $5 per ticket.
“It’s a fun show; you will love the humor, the energy, the music and the dancing,” said Greg Paradis, who serves as both director and musical director with the help of Daniel Mullins as the orchestra director and Mariel Letourneau as the choreographer.
The family-friendly musical “Mamma Mia!” is based on the book (script) by Catherine Johnson, originally conceived by Judy Craymer, with Music & Lyrics by Benny Andersson & Bjorn Ulvaeus.
The pop and rock musical production features a powerhouse cast of 80 James Caldwell students, including 40 cast members, 30 stage crew volunteers and a pit orchestra of 10 members. The production features bright 90’s-style clothing, beautiful sets and live music.
This “Jukebox Musical” is designed around iconic Abba songs with a plot centers around bride-to-be Sophie, who finds within her single mom’s diary that there are three men who could be her father. Shenanigans ensue when Sophie invites all three to her wedding without her mother’s knowledge.
