JCC Looks for a Few Good Mud Runners

April 9, 2014 at 10:51 PM

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - Want to get down and dirty with your friends this summer?
The JCC of Central New Jersey is in the organizing teams for three different Mud Runs this summer.
Athletes of any skill level are encouraged to participate. The training regimen that Steven DeAngelis, general manager of Fitness at The JCC of Central New Jersey, recommends includes: box jumps, treadmill interval training, sit-ups, and pushups on the knees.  Many of the training exercises mimic the obstacle course -- army crawling and rope climbing, for example.
“It’s a community event focused on accomplishment and fun,” DeAngelis said. “You don’t have to be in tremendous shape to participate.  If it gets too difficult you can go around the obstacles.”

Registration is now open with the goal of having three co-ed teams of 10 people. Participants range in age from 16 to 50.   The JCC will enter teams in the following events:
Tri-State New Jersey Dirty Girl Mud Run (5K)
