EDISON, NJ - A J.P. Stevens High School senior, will appear on Season 30 of “Jeopardy! Teen Tournament” this month starting July 21.
Jeff Xie will make his debut on Tuesday, July 22, where he will face off against Erin Christopher, 16, of Lexington, KY, and Selena Groh, 17, of Arlington Heights, IL.
The “Jeopardy! Teen Tournament” has been held every season since February 1987. Contestants in this tournament are primarily high school students between the ages of 13 and 17. Alex Trebek hosts the 29th annual teen tournament for two weeks, which ends with a two-day finale on July 31 and Aug. 1. Check your local cable provider for channel and times.
Jeff is one of 15 students competing on the two-week Jeopardy special for a $75,000 grand prize.
Prior to appearing on the show, prospective contestants were selected from those who passed a 50-question online test. The 15 final contestants were picked from a select group that was invited to attend regional in-person auditions consisting of a second 50-question test, an interview and mock game play.

Jeff recently participated in Columbia University’s Science Honors Program (SHP) during the 2013-2014 school year. The competition for admission to the SHP was intense, with more than 2000 students competing for about 380 available positions.
