MAPLEWOOD, SHORT HILLS and SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – For its 18th annual Coat Drive, Jersey Cares is planning to collect and distribute more than 60,000 “gently used” winter coats to men, women and children in need throughout the state. This will represent an increase of 50 percent over last year’s total.
To achieve this, Jersey Cares is partnering with more local organizations than ever, including the 2014 NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee, Wal-Mart and New York Cares, to create The Super Community Coat Drive. This will be the largest Coat Drive ever held in the tri-state area, and possibly the largest anywhere.
Companies, churches, fire departments, police stations, schools and other organizations will be collecting coats all across the state. Collection site volunteers will deliver the coats to regional sorting facilities and a number of non-profit organizations will pick them up for distribution to those in need.
In the Maplewood, Short Hills and South Orange area, clean, warm and gently used coats may be dropped off at the following locations:
Maplewood: GenWealth Group at 6 Inwood Place, from now to Feb. 7, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 973-761-0400 with questions.
Millburn/Short Hills: Towne Realty Group at 511 Millburn Ave., Short Hills (on the corner of Campbell Road). From Nov. 15 through Dec. 15, donations can be delivered to the office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 973-376-8300 with questions.
South Orange: South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC), 1 SOPAC Way, from now until Feb. 1, donations accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and before and after all scheduled performances.
