BAYONNE, NJ - Alert Bayonne Police detectives arrested a Jersey City man who is believed to have been responsible for a violent robbery that sent a 73-year-old Bayonne woman to the hospital on October 15.
According to Captain Eric Amato, the detectives were driving in the area of 41st Street and Kennedy Boulevard Monday morning when they observed a male, later identified as Rodney M. Neal, 49, matching the victim's description of the suspect who dragged her down the front steps of her home and across the sidewalk in an attempt to steal her purse as she checked her mailbox at 10:18 the night of the incident.
Neal, police say, was also riding a bicycle that matched the one he rode off on after leaving the woman with cuts to her knee and wrist along with bruising to her arm for which she was later treated at an area hospital.
Neal was placed under arrest and found also to be in possession of narcotic paraphernalia leading to an additional charge.
