JERSEY CITY, NJ - An investigation is underway into the events that led to members of the Jersey City Police Department finding a 30-year-old city man dead inside a car in the area of Clerk Street and Forrest Street.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, law enforcement officials were called to the scene at approximately 12:40 p.m. and, upon arrival, found the victim, identified as Yusef Mathis, with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.

Yusef was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting just minutes later.
