A Jersey City man was shot and killed in Elizabeth on Wednesday evening, said Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

The Union County Homicide Task Force was called to 380 Irvington Avenue around 9:20 p.m. on reports of a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Dean Bonds DOB: 7/27/1974 of Neptune Avenue in Jersey City was taken to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced dead a short time later, said Romankow.

The Homicide Task Force and Elizabeth Police Department continue to investigate the shooting and are in the process of gathering witness statements and canvassing the area for evidence, said Romankow.

Anyone with information relating to the homicide is urged to call Union County Crimestoppers at (908) 654-TIPS. Crimestoppers will offer a reward of up to $5,000 for the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible in the shooting death of Dean Bonds. All calls are kept anonymous.
