PATERSON, NJ - The John F. Kennedy varsity boys basketball team pulled away in the fourth quarter to seal a 55-45 victory over Hackensack in the final game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Sunday night at JFK High School.
Guard Alphonso Gee led the Knights with 24 points, including 10 from the foul line. Khadir Lindsey finished with eight points and Jalani Morris and Charles Powell scored seven apiece in the victory.
The Knights held a four-point lead, 40-36, heading into the fourth quarter. Hackensack had closed the gap after trailing, 28-20, at halftime.
It was the second victory of the weekend for JFK, which also defeated Dickinson of Jersey City, 68-49, on Friday. Gee pumped in 29 points in that game, with Lindsey and Morris going for 10 apiece.
Next, JFK will face crosstown foe Eastside in a rematch Tuesday night at 8 p.m. at Eastside. The Knights fell to Eastside on opening night.
