LIVINGSTON, NJ – Johnny’s on the Green (JOTG) Annual Halloween Party is still alive – or, ‘undead’. This year it will be hosted at Ravello’s Restaurant in East Hanover on Nov. 1 at 8:00 p.m.
Johnny Marrone, owner of Johnny’s on the Green, a local’s supper club hot spot formerly located at the East Orange Golf Course in Short Hills says that even though his restaurant is closed, he is determined to keep up the great parties that people ask about all year long.
“I get so many calls during the year from old patrons telling me that they miss the entertainment and dancing on Friday and Saturday nights, so the annual Halloween party is really just the perfect excuse for all of us to have a great time, eat great food and enjoy great entertainment,” said Marrone.
“I recently reviewed the menu we put together and I am excited to say that we are offering a menu to rival last year’s – even with tickets reduced to $38 from last year’s $55,” he added.
Tickets for admission include live entertainment by Danny Heise, the JOTG Friday night favorite, and a full elegant spread put together by Marrone and Ravello’s staff which will include cold antipastos, fried calamari, eggplant rollettini, pastas, and veal and chicken entrees.
“The evening will be filled with eating, drinking and being scary,” Marrone joked, “and as we do every year, we will be having our famous costume contest.”
The first prize winner this year will be awarded a weekend getaway for two at Resorts Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. Last year’s winners, Harold and Joanne Bailey, reported that they had a blast at Resorts and love coming up with creative costumes together for the party.
“We always look forward to Johnny's Halloween parties,” said Harold Bailey. “Joanne and I like to do costumes of TV or movie characters. My wife thinks I'm nuts because I really get into the characters.”
Last year the Baileys came as Lydia and Beetlejuice. “I think our success is due to the props that we come up with. Such as the Beetlejuice tombstone and the Book for the recently Deceased.”
There will also be prizes for second and third runner up which are still to be determined. Last year, other prizes included salon and restaurant gift certificates and limited edition art photography.
