ROXBURY, NJ - Succasunna resident Joseph Hills, a Bloomsburg University student majoring in accounting, was one of 19 Bloomsburg University students from seven different fields of study who participated in a Husky Career Road Trip on Nov. 5.

The students visited Eurofins and Eurofins National Service Center, a national laboratory in Leola, Pa., that provides environmental testing, monitoring, and consulting services. Students were given a tour of the Eurofins facility and laboratories to meet with managers from the packaging, product, raw material and environment testing units.

After the tour, Bloomsburg University alumni and Eurofins associates, Katelyn Esbenshade '14, Principal Recruiting Specialist, Cassandra Zaiac '17, Microbiologist, and Mariam Sarkessian '17, Senior Sourcing Specialist provided students with an overview of the company, a networking lunch, and led a panel discussion about the transition from student to professional. There are currently 11 BU alumni working at the Leola Eurofins location.

The road trip was arranged by Sarkessian and Dr. Lam Nguyen, Professor of Management and International Business in the Zeigler College of Business at Bloomsburg University, to provide students with career insights, industry exposure, and professional connections.

"The Husky Career Road Trip has provided an invaluable opportunity for BU students to experience first-hand real-world business operation, apply what they have learned in the classroom to a specific company, and gain insight into certain fields and industries," explained Nguyen. "It also exposed students with career experience via BU alumni, as well as potential internship and job opportunities."

Husky Career Road Trips are part of a comprehensive effort at Bloomsburg University to equip every student with practical, meaningful experiences and alumni and employer connections, both on campus and in the field, so they are prepared to impact their community and the workplace upon graduation. This commitment to student success is known as Professional U.
