HILLSIDE, NJ - Twenty-one Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills (JLOSH) volunteers gathered recently at the Community FoodBank of NJ to assemble weekend backpack inserts for children in need.

The backpacks are used to provide basic, nutritional meals to children who may otherwise go without meals on weekends. In just two short hours, JLOSH volunteers were able to assemble over 1,200 bags.

The Community FoodBank's BackPack program distributes approximately 5,300 inserts of food each week. The program operates at schools in Elizabeth, Newark, New Brunswick, Irvington, East Orange, Perth Amboy, Orange, Jersey City, Harrison and Roselle.
