Katherine Rozek Earns Girl Scout Gold Award

SPARTA, NJ- On December 29, Katherine Lynne Rozek was recognized with the highest award in Girl Scouts.  She received her Gold Award at a ceremony that included invited guests Senator Steve Oroho, Freeholder Dennis Mudrick, Msgr Martin Mc Donnell from Good Shepherd Church, Pastor Bill Briggs from Sparta Evangelical Free Church, Pastor Dallas Peschken of the First Baptist Church of Newton, John Durkot Sparta VFW Post 7248 Commander and Dennis Kohl from Patriots' Path.  Also attending as officials from the Girl Scout organization were, Alehandro Martenez, CEO of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey, Jim Hohman and Darren Dickinson Gold Award Advisors.

Rozek's Gold Award service project was to recondition playground equipment at Hillside Park in Andover.  Through the web blog she developed to report the progress of her project, Rozek was also able to increase community awareness of playground safety and maintenance.   The link to the blog is

Rozek,is a sophomore, homeschooled since 2006.  She is a founding member and current president of Venture Crew 276.  She earned her Bronze award in 2008, Silver in 2011 and every Cadette Badge available.  Rozek is also active in 4H where she currently serves as President of Kiddy Kat Kidz club, was Golf Club Vice President, Sussex Robotics President, member of Dogs and Paws, Chaps & Breeches Webmaster, President and Secretary, Jr Horse Bowl Team Captain.  She received  'Excellent' ribbons for Public Presentations as well.

Music plays an important role in Rozeks life.  She is a founding member of the Faith Center for the Arts, plays in Jazz Band, Coda Symphonic Ensemble, County College of Morris Wind Ensemble and Salt and Light Theater orchestra. 

She is a competitive marksman, plays basketball, rides horses and plays golf.

Rozek  joins her brothers who recently earned their Eagle Scout awards, the highest award in Boy Scouts.
