July 1, 2014 at 6:55 AM

LIVINGSTON, NJ - Team Lead of the Keller Williams® Realty Office in Livingston Shannon Buss has graduated from the 2014 National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Leadership Academy.  Buss, the only graduate of NAR ‘The Voice for Real Estate,’ America’s largest trade association, representing 1.1 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries, hailing from the Northeast, and sixteen other real estate professionals from across the United States, completed a multi-session leadership training and development program, which began in November 2013, in San Francisco. Commencement ceremonies were held during the 2014 REALTOR® Party Convention & Trade Expo in Washington, D.C., May 12-14.

The NAR Leadership Academy identifies, inspires and mentors emerging REALTOR® leaders and helps develop their leadership abilities so they can advocate for the rights of home and property owners to buy, sell and invest in real estate.

"We are very excited and proud at Shannon's leadership growth path and skills,” said Steven Gendel, owner of Keller Williams Suburban Realty in Livingston. “She is an outstanding example of helping to take agents to the next level to grow personally and professionally.”

“This was a once in a lifetime experience,” said Buss. “We met as strangers, grew as leaders and left as friends. Academy taught me so much about the strength of the National Association of Realtors and how our Association works to advocate for Homeowners across the Nation. I am so proud to be a graduate of this class and grateful for the opportunity to serve our organization both at the local and National levels.”

Buss, a resident of West Orange, has been Team Leader of the Keller Williams® Livingston office since November 2013.  A native of Massachusetts and graduate of Rogers Williams University in Bristol, R.I., Ms. Buss has been a realtor for over ten years and is licensed in New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.

A past regional vice president for the Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR), Buss currently serves on the WCR National Executive Committee. Buss is also a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and serves on the NAR National Housing Opportunity Committee. She is a certified instructor for the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation, and for the Seller Representative Specialist (SRS) designation. Buss was inducted to the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council’s (REBAC) “Hall of Fame” in 2012, following her selection by an independent panel of real estate industry leaders for her outstanding professionalism in the real estate community.

Getting a Handle on Thanksgiving

This year, on our National Day of Thanks, I would like to express my gratitude for having hands.

We typically don’t thank our body parts because they seldom leave us.  Most of us have not experienced unfortunate accidents or suffered the horrible consequences of war; tragic events  which might cause us to lose a limb.

Most of us take our fingers and hands and elbows ...

My Epic Beauty Fails

One day as I was looking around a high-end cosmetics store for a new lipstick, a “beauty expert” approached me and said that I was so stunning I should forget the lipstick, and get a lip plumper instead.
