Thoroughly Modern Millie is a high-spirited musical romp that will have everyone dancing the Charleston. Based on the popular 1967 movie of the same name, it's the zany new 1920's musical that took Broadway by storm! The stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers. Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love - a thoroughly modern aim in 1922. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever. Performed in one act, with no intermission, this junior production has been specially adapted-abridged to 90 minutes. Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment, filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate.
With veteran director Leslie Potashner, accomplished musical director Mark Watson, award winning choreographer Kelsea Kaplan, and a stellar cast of area students ages 7-18, this is a production that should not be missed.
