SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Sophomore guard Mike Klinger pumped in a season-high 31 points to steer Drew University to a 69-60 men's basketball victory over Susquehanna on Saturday.
The victory elevated the Rangers (10-9 overall, 4-4 conference) to third place in the Landmark Conference. Klinger connected on eight of 18 shots from the field and was perfect on 12 free throw attempts. Sophomore Ozan Yucetepe from Westfield scored eight points in 13 minutes off the bench for the Rangers.
Drew closed out the first half on a 24-13 run behind 10 points from Klinger. The teams entered the half tied, 27-27.
The Rangers continued their hot shooting to start the second half. Drew opened on a 19-5 over the first eight minutes. Susquehanna is 12-7, 4-4 in the conference.
Drew returns to Baldwin Gym on Wednesday, Feb. 5, as they host Moravian (Pa.) in another Landmark Conference contest. In the first meeting between the two schools, the Greyhounds edged the Rangers 67-66 in Bethlehem, Pa.
