MILLTOWN, NJ - Get the sneakers and the red, white and blue ready because registration is open for the 38th annual Milltown Firecracker 5K on July 4 which helps to kick off a day's worth of Fourth of July fun. The race begins at 7:45 a.m. with a one mile fun run. The 5K follows the fun run at 8:10 a.m. Early bird prices are in effect until June 9. Registration can be done online.

The cost of the one mile fun run is $7 before June 9 and $10 after June 9. All fun run participants under the age of 14 receive a medal. The cost of the 5K is $25 before June 9 and $30 after. T-shirts are not guaranteed for participants signing up after June 9.

Milltown native Kyle Price won the 2018 Firecracker 5k with a time of 17:06.6. Price has finished first in several of the borough's Fourth of July 5K's and also competed in the 2018 Boston Marathon, finishing 154th in a field of 30,000 runners. Lauren Kroepfl of Trenton was the first female to cross the finish line with a time of 19:26.1 in last year's race.
