LIVINGSTON, NJ – The Livingston varsity boys basketball team is off to a good start with a 47-41 victory over West Orange in the first game of the season.
“We worked very hard from day one of practice with the hopes to start the season 1-0,” said junior guard Andrew Katzeff. “We are looking forward to the rest of the season after a big win like this.”
Livingston led for the entire night in the defensive battle against West Orange. At halftime, the score was 12-9, with Livingston ahead.
Khalil Garnes scored 18 points and Sean Duffy had 10 points—seven of which came in the fourth quarter for Livingston.
For West Orange, Morgan Garrison scored eight points and All-Area senior guard Isaiah Scott had seven points.
Starting point guard Matt Chasin, a junior, said, “It was a very aggressive game and our defense was very prepared for their up-tempo style offense.”
Next, Livingston will play in the Pequannock Holiday Tournament on Friday, Dec. 27 and Saturday, Dec. 28.
