Lancers Tie West Essex Hockey on Senior Night

February 4, 2014 at 10:43 AM

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Livingston Lancers took to the frozen surface at Richard J. Codey Arena on Sat., February 1 to play the West Essex Knights. Before the game, the Lancers’ five seniors, Cole Friedfertig, Adam Jacobowitz, Joe Lilien, Brian Lilien and Tal Finberg, were celebrated on the ice along with their parents as it was also Senior Night.

This game was defined by each team’s defense, but with only minutes left in the first period, the game saw its first point on the board with a goal from Junior Josh Delseni.

The Knights, however, didn’t let the Livingston goal get to their heads. Just minutes after the puck dropped to start the second period of play, West Essex’s CJ Muehlbauer snuck the rubber past the Lancers goaltender, Brian Lilien.

The remainder of the game was defensive, as Lilien finished off the game with 24 saves, and the Knights goalie Christian Aussenheimer ended with 23. Ryan Dallow and Joe Lilien of Livingston had an assist each.

Although Livingston was unable to continue their winning ways, they remain afloat at the top of NJ’s rankings and expect success in the playoffs. The Lancers next game (originally scheduled for Feb. 3) against the Millburn Millers will be rescheduled due to the snow.

Man vs. Waze

A lot of strange cars are traveling through my quiet neighborhood these days.  They are not driven by my neighbors.  Some mornings I even have trouble getting out of my driveway.

Waze.

Ever since bridge repair closed a major thoroughfare near my house, the traffic on my sleepy street has increased dramatically.  And it is not by accident that commuters have figured out ...
