Large Marijuana Seizure in Summit Leads to Two Arrests

December 19, 2012 at 10:19 AM

SUMMIT, NJ - Thirty pounds of marijuana were seized in Summit following a joint investigation by the Union County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Strike Force, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Summit Police Department Detective Bureau.  Thomas Juliet, 59, and Onofrio Genovese, 53, both of Brooklyn, New York, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, first degree; distribution of marijuana within a thousand feet of school property; possession of marijuana; and distribution of marijuana near a public place.

The marijuana was found inside suspicious packages transported from out of state through a Summit shipping agency.

Robert Weck, Chief of the Summit Police Department, said, "the drugs seized, which have a street value of approximately $200,000, were effectively kept off our city streets.  This is an excellent example of what can be accomplished when governmental agencies share information and work together."

The defendants were remanded to Union County Jail in default of $100,000 bail, no ten percent.

At first I wondered why I needed a lip plumper if I was already so stunning. But then I thought, “Now here is someone wearing a badge that says, ‘beauty expert,’ so ...

Getting a Handle on Thanksgiving

This year, on our National Day of Thanks, I would like to express my gratitude for having hands.

We typically don’t thank our body parts because they seldom leave us.  Most of us have not experienced unfortunate accidents or suffered the horrible consequences of war; tragic events  which might cause us to lose a limb.

Most of us take our fingers and hands and elbows ...
