RANDOLPH,NJ- The township announced that recycling collection is cancelled for residents on Thursday and Friday routes. There will be no make-up collection this week. The recycling center will be open this weekend , and Monday and Tuesday for residents. Garbage collection resumes Friday morning for the Thursday and Friday routes.
It was also announced that Randolph crews will be clearing roads throughout Thursday and Friday. Road salt is in short supply and must be used sparingly which will delay melting of ice and packed snow.
Another burst of this winter storm will continue to affect our region through late tonight. A second shot of accumulating snow associated with the low will affect our region from this evening into the overnight hours. The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. Friday.
The second shot of accumulating snow is anticipated to accumulate an additional three to six inches, bringing the entire storm total to about 12 to 18 inches. Also, there may be up to a tenth of an inch of ice through early evening.
Temperatures: mainly ranging from the middle 20's to the lower 30's.
Winds: North to Northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Impacts: Travel will remain hazardous due to snow and ice on roads and walkways. The snow and ice will possibly bring down tree limbs and utility lines resulting in power outages.
Randolph Public Schools announced that schools will be closed again on Friday due to ongoing icing and concerns regarding the buses.
