MONTVILLE, NJ – Two Lazar Middle Schoolers recently made a substantial donation to the Montville Township First Aid Squad from a fundraiser they conducted by themselves, painting artwork.
Charvi Kanna and Anya Sinha, both seventh graders at the school, spent last summer painting cards and works of art – they made 86 cards and 27 paintings, Kanna told TAPinto Montville recently. The pair has known each other since pre-school and “We saw how hard the First Aid Squad was working so we worked on our cards and paintings,” Sinha said.
By telling friends and family and putting their project on social media, they were able to raise $400 for the organization with the $10 paintings and $3 cards.
“If a customer wanted, there was a message inside the cards, and most did have them,” Kanna said. She likes to paint flowers, she said, while Sinha likes to paint cut things in her room or quilts.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the pair didn’t get to meet any of their benefactors, but First Aid Squad Vicki Klein said, “These types of donations really mean a lot to us. All of our members are required to wear PPE and that gets costly. We really appreciate all the help and efforts of the girls.”
