Learn How to Install a Drip Irrigation in Your Garden with the Green Team

April 30, 2013 at 4:26 PM

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The Green Teams of Maplewood, South Orange and Millburn will be installing a drip irrigation system for the Rent Party Garden, located at the South Orange Elks Club at 220 Prospect Street on Saturday, May 4, at 10 AM.  Local residents are invited to come participate in the project and learn how to build a system for their own gardens.

Drip irrigation actually reduces water usage and increases garden yield at the same time.  With drip emitters placed at the base of the plants, water is not lost to evaporation or run-off.  The system reduces disease and pests that can be caused by the wet leaves that traditional watering methods produce.  Drip systems also water the whole garden evenly and can be set on a timer.
