Lenten Series concludes with Matlack, Stroud and Friends

Feet projected on the wall for better audience viewling at Friday Lenten organ recitals at Grace Church Madison, beginning Feb. 20 at 12:15.

Organists Anne Matlack and Eric Stroud conclude the lunchtime Lenten organ meditations with a recital including vocalists and instrumentalists on Friday April 11 at 12:15 p.m. Matlack will play flute with Stroud at the organ in works by Callahan and Neswick. British soprano Eleanor Wroath of Madison will sing Melby’s There is a Green Hill far Away. Young lyric soprano Elena Bird will perform two Bach arias, including Ich folge dir with flute, and clarinetist Bas Inemmee of Livingston will join Stroud for arrangements of Vivaldi’s Spring.

The recital begins at 12:15 following brief (five minute) noon prayer, and ends at 12:45.  Drinks and dessert are provided after each performance. Local gourmet sandwich shop, Madison’s On A Roll, will provide a selection of wraps and sandwiches for $6 purchase after each concert. The concerts are free and open to the public.  The organ console and pedals will be projected onto the wall for better audience viewing.

Eric Stroud, assistant organist, is in his 12th year at Grace Church, and a talented improviser as well as recitalist, currently studying with Brian Harlow.  As well as her celebrating her 23rd year as music director at Grace Church, Dr. Matlack is Artistic Director of the acclaimed Harmonium Choral Society. She studied organ with Charles Krigbaum at Yale and David Mulbury at The Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

The Grace Adult choir will also chant their final candlelight plainsong Compline service of the season Thursday April 10 at 8:45-9 p.m.
