You’ll not believe the bar scene at Moonshine Modern Supper Club in Millburn. On any given night, it’s packed with friendly folks who have come to meet up with their buddies, or are looking forward to hanging out with a whole new crowd. Whatever, you can be sure it won’t be long before first time visitors are chatting up friends they’ve just met, who have instantly become their new best buddies.
Heading out of the stunning oak bar designed with smoked mirrors, a gaggle of comfortable chairs, and music coming from everywhere, you’re apt to wander into a dining area replete with an open kitchen, communal table, and large windows that open wide to welcome the warm weather seasons.
Upstairs, the walls dance with lively animals, while guests wander about sharing good food and atmosphere with one another. From appetizers of Pan Roasted Crab Cakes, radish, and cajun remoulade, ($14), to Spanish octopus, garlic puree, Serrano chiles and olives, ($14), Roasted Baby Golden Beet salad with goat cheese, walnuts, and baby spinach, ($11), a Charcuterie Plate filled with cured meats, apricot mustardo, and olives, ($16).
Entrees offer Herb Crusted Chicken Breast, chanterelle, root vegetables, natural jus, ($22); Big Eye Tuna, haricot verts, artichokes, citrus vinaigrette, ($28), Braised Short Rib of Beef, wild mushroom risotto, ($28), and Berkshire Pork Chop, sauerkraut, dumpling, natural jus, ($30); Herb Sheep Milk Ricotta Ravioli, hazelnuts, brown butter, pear puree, ($19).
You’re also welcome to order steak in almost every type of venue. From Hanger Steak ($23); to Filet Mignon, ($30), or a 20 oz. Bone-in Cowboy Steak, ($46). All are served with a choice of bordelaise, chimichurri, or béarnaise sauce. The menu also includes an entire list of side dishes, priced at 3 for $18.
Partners and friends, Victor Delapa and double-certified Sommelier Joseph San Philip are also affiliated with the Brass Rail in Hoboken, and the newly opened The Stewed Cow, on 4th and Adams Street. Together with their new Executive Chef Klaus Kronsteiner, the gentlemen have created a comfortable environment for all to enjoy.
Arriving at Moonshine in late December, Kronsteiner takes pride in his love of seafood, short ribs, poultry, duck eggs and hash, and all kinds of steak.
One of the first chefs to ever appear on "Chopped," a Food Network show, Klaus looks forward to greeting many new faces from his open kitchen at Moonshine Modern Supper Club. “With the coming of spring, we’re looking forward to welcoming friends for lunch and dinner. Should you have a favorite dish, do mention it. If there is time, and we have the ingredients, I will be happy to prepare it for you.”

Desserts are created in-house, and are sure to please.
Yes, you are able to reserve the restaurant for a private party. Yes, you are guaranteed to have a good time at Moonshine's friendly dining club. Call a couple of friends, and treat yourself to something a bit different, but certainly easy to get used too.
