Dear Editor:

May is National Cancer Research Month, and the week of May 12 is National Women’s Health Week.  I am actively responding to those suffering from metastatic breast cancer, and especially those who lost mothers and cannot celebrate with them on Mother’s Day.

My sister, Tami Eagle Bowling, is a founder of the METAvivors of NJ Facebook group. Please help me educate the public that 115 people are dying every day of MBC. That’s over 40,000 women a year.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

Approximately 30% of women with early-stage breast cancer will develop stage IV, and breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among American women. That is why the current percentage of U.S. breast cancer research dollars for stage IV treatment needs to be increased from less than 5% to 30%. We at METAvivors of NJ are working hard to do that.

We hope you can join us for a Proclamation by Mayor Brindle at the May 7 Westfield Town Council meeting at 8:00 p.m. Please spread the word and find us on Facebook so we can collectively take action to make MBC a chronic illness instead of a deadly one.  #DontIgnoreStageIV
