Liam's Room Expanding to Goryeb Children's Hospital Morristown Memorial Medical Center, Morristown, NJ

February 15, 2013 at 10:49 AM

The Liam's Room Board of Directors is proud to announce the expansion of Liam's Room at Goryeb Children's Hospital at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ, due to be completed in Spring 2013.

In the 3 years since the opening of the first Liam's Room at Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ, over 100 pediatric patients and their families have been admitted and met the criteria for receiving pediatric palliative care.  Several of those families spent their last moments with their child there.

Liam's Room was approached by Goryeb Children's Hospital at Morristown Memorial to fund a Liam's Room facility as a result of those families having used Liam's Room at Overlook Hospital expressing their gratitude, echoing our belief that pediatric palliative care including a more home like environment is critical to providing the best care for chronically ill children.  As reported by Goryeb Children's Hospital at Morristown Medical Center, in this past quarter alone, over 30 families would have benefited from staying in Liam's Room.

~Excerpts from the guest book in Liam's Room at Overlook Hospital~

"Thank you for all of the amazing care that was given to our son.  The room was beautiful, comfortable, just like "home".  The staff took care of my son as if he were their own."

"God Bless Liam's Room for this gift of hope, peace and comfort."

"It was truly a comfort to be here in the midst of such difficult times."

"We have had numerous hospital stays over the past year and this room was a wonderful respite from the clinical feel of a regular room.  Thank you for giving us a bit of peace."

The kindness and generosity of strangers who are now friends and friends who are now part of the Liam's Room family enabled this endeavor to be possible.

In years past, the Liam's Room Foundation has focused its efforts on our surrounding community, resulting in the creating a room and educating staff, including funding for two doctors to attend the world renowned Harvard University Program in Pediatric Palliative Care Education and Practice.

This year, the Foundation is focused on expanding awareness of our mission to those who will benefit from Liam's Room in the Morristown, NJ area.

We hope that those who have given so generously in the past will continue to bestow their contributions in support of our mission.

Please visit our website,, and like us on Facebook, to get updates on the progress of Liam's Room at Goryeb Children's Hospital at Morristown Medical Center, as well as any other Liam's Room news.

Again, thank you for your generosity and understanding of the importance of Liam's Room.

To the Editor:

The past few years have brought on a numerous number of debates, the Redevelopment Act, new town hall, change in our downtown area, the Supreme Court ruling on COAH to name a few. Many of you know I do not agree with some of the above BUT I am only one person. I have learned to sit and study the different situations to understand them by researching.
The other thing that we ...

Which is Best: Lump Sum or Pension Annuity?

Is a lump sum offer from an employer a better choice than a pension annuity for life? The former provides an immediate up-front amount (say $300,000), but the pension annuity gives you a stream of payments for life (example: $1,350 per month). A number of employers dangle a lump sum offer to employees in part to remove future liabilities from their balance sheets. It’s tempting for ...
