BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The varsity football opener between Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Gov. Livingston was interrupted with 6:00 left in the fourth quarter by lightning on Thursday evening with Scotch Plains-Fanwood leading, 20-7.
The game was halted at about 6:30 p.m. when game officials saw the first flash of lightning. Rules state that officials must wait at least a half-hour after the last sighting of lightning before a game can resume.
The last six minutes of the contest will be played Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Gov. Livingston's field in Berkeley Heights.
