Liszewski Takes USA Gymnastics Crown

PISCATAWAY, NJ – South Plainfield’s Emily Liszewski won the USA Gymnastics, NJ State Championship in the All Around Competition for Level 8.   The Level 8 State Championships were held at Rutgers’s University, Livingston Athletic Center on Sunday, March 16th.  Emily is an 11 years old student at MG Elite Gymnastics.  MG Elite Gymnastics practices at Monmouth Gymnastics Academy in Morganville, NJ.  She is coached by Victoria Levine and Maggie Haney.

In addition to winning the All Around state title, Liszewski’s score of 38.525 set a new state record.  Liszewski scored a 9.575 on Vault, a 9.70 on Bars, a 9.625 on Beam, and a 9.625 on the Floor.  Emily will be one of six girls advancing to the USA Gymnastics Region 7 Championships later this month representing the State of NJ in her level/age division.

Coach Vicky Levine had this to say about Liszewski "Emily is not the same kid that walked in the door a year ago. She has come a long way and it was so great as her coach to see all of her hard work pay off. I knew if she just hit 4 for 4 that nobody could touch her. She showed up to the meet feeling more confident than ever and she did just that. I am so proud of her accomplishments and am looking forward to Regional’s."

Emily went to Roosevelt K-4, then Grant for most of 5th grade before transitioning to homeschooling through MG Elite towards the end of last school year.  She has been doing gymnastics for five years.  The states in Region 7 are; New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Washington DC, Virginia and West Virginia.
