WESTFIELD, NJ – Little Lambs Preschool and Kindergarten has a new name, new leadership and the newest preferred state curriculum standards.

Little Lambs, formerly known as Redeemer Lutheran School in Westfield, provides a nurturing Christian education for preschoolers and kindergarten aged children. It serves children age 2 ½ to 6. Little Lambs offers many choices of traditional preschool hours as well as a Full Day Kindergarten. Also available are before and aftercare hours, lunch bunch and many enrichments to choose from.

Martha Gilmore joined Little Lambs in April. Gilmore, with 25 years in Preschool and Kindergarten education experience, believes Little Lambs can help prepare your child for success in school – and in life.

“Research shows how important the early years are in a child’s learning and development,” Gilmore said. “What happens in preschool, kindergarten, and at home matters a lot. We feel our school program can help nurture the love of learning for each child.”

Little Lambs educational program teaches Christian values. With teachers sharing love, caring and kindness to these young children the opportunity each day to have fun while learning can occur. The staff is trained in the use of The Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies and in addition to that the kindergarten also uses the high standards of the Westfield School District with the use of Wilson Language Training, Everyday Mathematics and Calkins Reader and Writer workshops. The school wants children to transition seamlessly into the surrounding school districts.

The school feels strongly about parent participation as well as reaching out to the community with service projects. This year they have participated in projects for veterans, for residents at the Chelsea, for a family in need in Westfield and each week give to the Westfield Food Bank as well as collecting hats and gloves for people in need.

“We want children to know we need to care for the world around us and it’s important we teach them at a young age,” Gilmore says.

The sunny, large classrooms combined with a small class size offers a great learning environment where children can be challenged to grow at their own individual pace. In addition, the school offers in-house enrichment opportunities with Amazing Athletes, Wee Little Arts, Stretch-n-Grow, and also brings in chick hatching, a petting zoo and goes on class trips to enhance their day-to-day learning.
