LIVINGSTON, NJ - On Thursday afternoon, the Livingston boys varsity lacrosse team defeated Newark East Side High School, 15-1.
“An admirable effort was put forth by every player,” said Livingston head coach Brad Dzama, “and the boys should be proud of their victory.”
The Lancers came out strong from the get-go. Dominating offensively, the boys kept the play on their side of the field for the majority of the game. The first half ended, 13-0, in favor of Livingston. The second half brought three more goals for Livingston to seal the victory, and only one goal for East Side High School late in the fourth quarter.
Senior Billy Mandl and junior Tommy Heller led the team with five goals each. Heller also led the team with three assists. Seniors Dylan Kruse and Adam Schey, each scoring one goal, also played impressive offense.
Defensively, Livingston couldn’t be stopped, allowing only five shots on goal by East Side High School. Stellar defensive play by juniors, Ryan Cheeseman, Greg Glassman and Jonny Schreiber contributed to the Lancer victory. Goalie Brandon Stone played a near-perfect game, with numerous, excellent saves and clears.
Next, Livingston Boys Lacrosse is hosting West Orange at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 19.
