Livingston Co. Inteplast Group Acquires Part of Trinity Packaging Corp.

August 15, 2013 at 6:50 AM

LIVINGSTON, NJ – Livingston-headquartered company, Inteplast Group, recently announced that it has acquired a part of Trinity Packaging Corporation, headquartered in Armonk, New York. The deal that was made effective on Aug. 1 includes the manufacturing facilities in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, and Pueblo, Colorado.

The new company, Trinity Plastics, Inc. will be part of Inteplast’s Integrated Bagging Systems Division (IBS) and will make that division one of the leading manufacturers of plastic bags and foodservice items that is currently serving private label, retail and grocery markets.

"Trinity represents the quintessence of American manufacturing and family business as embodied by 4 generations of the Freund family and we appreciate what this heritage brings to our own group of companies," said Dr. John Young, president and founder of Inteplast Group.

“This addition further exemplifies our commitment to ensuring quality manufacturing jobs for American workers."  Young started Inteplast in Livingston in 1991 with a handful of people.  Now the company has grown to over 5,000 and employs approximately 250 people from the town of Livingston and its surrounding communities.

Young adds, "Over the past few years I have come to respect greatly both Mr. John Freund and his son Peter. The two show a deep sense of caring for their colleagues and employees and are exemplary corporate citizens. I am honored to be able to perpetuate their sense of commitment to fellow co-workers and will do everything in my power to ensure continuity for both the organization that we are inheriting and the relationships with the customer and local communities which they serve. We want to become productive members of the Lewistown and Pueblo communities."

Inteplast operates manufacturing facilities throughout North America which include 40 plants and 10 warehouses. Central to Inteplast's existence is the belief in American manufacturing.

"The Group was established based upon the belief that we can still do world-class, competitive manufacturing in the United States," said Young. The creation of Inteplast Group over 20 years ago occurred at a time when similar operations were going overseas.  According to Young, the acquisition between Inteplast and Trinity Packaging is further evidence of that commitment.

Getting a Handle on Thanksgiving

This year, on our National Day of Thanks, I would like to express my gratitude for having hands.

We typically don’t thank our body parts because they seldom leave us.  Most of us have not experienced unfortunate accidents or suffered the horrible consequences of war; tragic events  which might cause us to lose a limb.

Most of us take our fingers and hands and elbows ...
