LIVINGSTON, NJ – The Livingston Express Shuttle is helping commuters cope with change by offering a new evening monthly pass to compensate for the two-year construction project underway on the 495 viaduct leading to the Lincoln Tunnel.
According to Livingston Express Shuttle Committee chair Alan Karpas, OurBus is ceasing operations in the community and the new bus service Box Car is currently testing the concept of providing one route in the morning but no return routes in the evening.
“We understand that a bus lane will remain open only in the morning,” he said. “There is no bus lane in the evening, which complicates the bus commute home. Enter the Livingston Express Shuttle.”
Thanks to the Livingston Express Shuttle, commuters can take the train from New York City to South Orange and then hop the shuttle for a quick trip to the Livingston Mall. The uninterrupted trip from New York Penn Station to the Livingston Mall is approximately one hour, according to Karpas.
“This option allows commuters to travel to NYC in the morning via their preferred mode of transportation, and make the shuttle the best and quickest method to get home,” said Karpas.
The Livingston Express Shuttle operates every half-hour in the mornings between 6 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. and in the evenings, beginning with the 3:22 p.m. Midtown Direct departure from New York Penn and concluding with the 8:05 p.m. train departure.

September monthly passes, including the new "One Way" evening-only monthly passes, are available now for $35 through Community Pass. Individuals who do not want to purchase a monthly pass can ride the shuttle for $2 per trip.
