LIVINGSTON, NJ – Robert Simon, Livingston resident and creator of local seasoning brand “Chef of the Future” recently made his television debut in Spike TV’s “Frankenfood.” Simon competed in the New Jersey episode of the show and advanced to the final round.
Spike TV describes the show as “a mash up of original and unexpected food combinations and ingredients, resulting in delicious dishes…or awful misses.”
Simon’s dish was a meatball called “spicy stegosaurus balls” and consisted of italian sausage, grilled chicken, black licorice, jalapeno and gorgonzola cheese.
“It is a competition food show like no other,” Simon said, “personally, I think the show is a real hoot!”
Simon was selected for the show after a series of casting calls in which several hundred people auditioned.
“It was nerve-racking. I’ve never been one to put myself out there on television. I was looking for a little bit of press to get the name out there for my business,” Simon said.
Still, Simon expressed that the show was a fun, rewarding experience. He added, “If they do another show I’d love to be on it. I’m already working on my next dish!”
