Livingston ShopRite offers Free Programs In Honor of Food Day


As the Retail Dietitian for the ShopRite of Livingston, Christine Patorniti develops nutritional programs for the store and helps to serve the local community and schools.  She aims provide nutritional information and guidance that can help influence better food choices. In her role, Christine conducts grocery shopping tasting tours, runs interactive ‘kids-only’ programs, highlights specialty products for specific allergies and diseases, offers recipe and pantry makeovers and coordinates other health and wellness initiatives and nutritional programs for ShopRite customers.

Three special programs have been designed in honor of Livingston’s Food Day.  Residents and non-residents are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Christine received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware, where she majored in Dietetics with a concentration in Weight Management. She completed her dietetic internship with Sodexo Food Service, working primarily at the St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey.   

As part of ShopRite’s Retail Dietitian team, Christine joins more than twenty-five Registered Dietitians who service ShopRite stores throughout Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. ShopRite’s Retail Dietitians offer customers free nutritional advice, meal planning, and proper eating for specific medical conditions and healthy lifestyles.  Christine feels that eating healthy can be affordable & manageable as long as you have the correct support system & a great store that offers variety with realistic prices.  Come by and chat with her about your needs.  You can always email her at  or call her at 973-740-2499 and check out for her listing of October events.

Throughout the month of October there are many Food Day events planned in Livingston and residents and non-residents are welcomed and encouraged to participate. Food Day, sponsored by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, is a nationwide celebration and a movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. Last year, for the first time, over 2,500 events were held in all 50 states in homes, schools, congregations, farmers markets, restaurants, libraries, supermarkets and businesses.  Food Day is held on October 24th, but efforts can be held anytime throughout the year.   For more information on food day see or contact or email Eileen Sweeny at
