Livingston Summer Concert Series: The British Invasion Tribute

July 24, 2014 at 6:55 AM

LIVINGSTON, NJ – On Sunday night Regal Bank hosted the Summer Concert Series starring the British Invasion Tribute at the Livingston High School gazebo. The band, including Lee Scottt Howard, Bobby M, Jeff Alai and Jon Wolf, gave the audience three shows in one.

They began with iconic British groups such as The Rolling Stones, Dave Clark Five, The Searchers, and The Zombies. Then they played American groups that were inspired by the previous British groups, such as The Monkees, The Beach Boys, The Doors and Simon and Garfunkel. Finally they wrapped up the concert with The Beatles.

“Welcome, welcome on such a perfect night, no London rain in sight,” announced Lee Scott Howard, guitar and vocals, before starting off the concert with “A Hard Day’s Night” by The Beatles.

Lynne Taylor and Kristen Holmelund Reid, two Livingston natives, attended the concert, “I heard from a friend on Facebook that a Beatles tribute band was playing. I pulled teeth to find out where and when the concert was. This is my music!”

The LHS gazebo had a large turn out and all were dancing and singing to the music. Some preferred to listen to the music while they played Frisbee, football or other games.

Regal Bank is also holding a photo contest for the Summer Concert Series where the best concert shots have a chance to win a $50 or $100 gift card for each concert. To enter the contest share your event photos during the concert on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #RegalBankConcert.

The last concert in the summer series is on Sunday July 27, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the LHS Gazebo. For more information, contact SYLS at 973-535-7925 x260.

Getting a Handle on Thanksgiving

This year, on our National Day of Thanks, I would like to express my gratitude for having hands.

We typically don’t thank our body parts because they seldom leave us.  Most of us have not experienced unfortunate accidents or suffered the horrible consequences of war; tragic events  which might cause us to lose a limb.
