LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Livingston Municipal Court settled one case for the week of March 16 through March 23.
Niaphees White of Newark was charged with two counts of theft of lost or mislaid property and two counts of credit card fraud. White stole two active credit cards and used the first one to purchase $20 worth of gasoline in Newark. He then used the second one to purchase $19.41 worth of cigarettes, gas and food in East Orange. Both charges of credit card fraud were downgraded by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office to two separate charges of theft by deception.
White plead guilty to one charge of theft of lost or mislaid property and all other charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. For his offense, he was sentenced to serve a 30-day jail term and to pay a $500 fine, $33 in court cost fees, $50 to the Victim of Crime Compensation Fund and $75 to the Safe Neighborhood Fund.
